Ampleforth Abbey is a place of nourishing presence, and a site of continuous prayer since 1802.

As you are welcomed into this remarkable history, we invite you to become part of the rhythm of life here, in whatever way serves you best.

Services

Services and times of prayer continue to run as they have for centuries, and you can find the schedule below.

SERVICE TIMES

Without obligation, you are welcome to attend any services during your stay, and there will be members of the community on hand to show you where to go and what to do. You will be provided with service sheets and books to guide you through each service.

Meals

Meals are served at the same time each day, around service times.

Breakfast: From 8am

Lunch: 1.15pm

Supper: 6.30pm

All meals are served in the Newman Room in the Main Building, and dietary needs can be catered for.

Activities and Retreat Sessions

For those on individual retreats, your time with us is your own to spend as you wish, and there is plenty to be found to do on site and in the surrounding areas.

If you are attending an organised retreat, there will be planned sessions throughout the day, and you will receive a timetable upon your arrival.

Retreat guests are welcome to visit the Abbey's Tea Room and Visitor Centre at Alban Roe House, open daily 10.00-17.00, and our Hospitality team can assist with any activities you might want to explore within the wider area during your stay.
