Today we celebrate the Feast of St Laurence.
St Laurence is the principal Patron of Ampleforth Abbey. When the Community was first established in France in 1608, we were given an abandoned set of buildings and a Church already dedicated to St Laurence – he has been our Patron ever since.
We have a relic of his in the Abbey Church which is exposed for veneration each year.
