The Blessing of the New Marian Garden

The monks praying around the Marian Garden

It is a pleasure to announce our new Marian Garden has been blessed by Fr Abbot (pictured above) and is now open to the public for prayer and reflection.

The garden is situated below the Memorial Garden and Alban Roe House (soon to be our new Visitor Experience), and is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a place of devotion. The Our Lady statue stands proudly at the head of the garden, with a central courtyard providing semi-closed seating for peace and privacy orientated towards the statue.

Oak gates at the front of the garden, handcrafted by our Estate Supervisor from oak within our grounds, will welcome all who visit - monks, visitors, retreat guests etc.

The Marian Garden

This has all been possible due to a generous donation which we are extremely grateful for.

Yesterday the whole Ampleforth Abbey community came together for the Blessing of the Marian Garden, which included a social BBQ and games on the lawn.

We encourage people to visit this place of contemplation in the coming seasons as the planting grows and evolves, and we hope a deeper devotion to Our Lady, Mother of Hope, is inspired.
