Safeguarding Committee member with Child Protection Experience

The Trustees of Ampleforth Abbey Trust are looking for a skilled volunteer with professional experience of safeguarding children to join the Safeguarding Committee.

Ampleforth Abbey Trust (AAT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding for children and adults. Our safeguarding activity is outlined in our Strategic Plan and is reviewed and monitored by our Safeguarding Committee

Ampleforth Abbey Trust

Ampleforth Abbey is set in the beautiful Howardian Hills in North Yorkshire.  Today, the monastic community, which is part of the English Benedictine Congregation, numbers just under 50 monks, the majority of whom are resident at Ampleforth. There is also a small monastic community at the Monastery of Christ the Word in Zimbabwe. Ampleforth monks also serve in a number of parishes.

Ampleforth Abbey, as with many religious communities in the UK, is not just a spiritual entity but is also constituted as a legal charity. The Ampleforth Abbey Trust is a registered charity established and operated for charitable purposes, primarily the furtherance of the Roman Catholic faith.

We employee approximately 100 employees and are currently embarking on an exciting project to renovate our Visitor Centre, Shop & Tearoom. Our orchard is one of the largest commercial orchards in the North of England. The Abbey Church continues to be open for visitors and our retreat centre welcomes guests from all over the world.
