Lifeguard

Full Time: Permanent – 37 Hours a week, no split shifts, Christmas Shutdown.

Working pattern: Hours between Monday to Friday 12 -8pm and Saturdays 9 am to 4pm

We are looking for a Lifeguard at our St Albans Centre who will embrace the opportunity to provide excellent service demonstrating all due care to safeguarding and all relevant Health & Safety Legislation.

Your customers will be the general public, schools for swimming lessons and Ampleforth College. We are a small team and pride ourselves on ensuring a safe and friendly environment.

Main Duties

· Support the management team in the smooth running of the day to day activities of the St Alban’s Sports Centre

· Ensuring compliance with St Alban’s Centre and Ampleforth Abbey Trust policies and procedures at all times, including but not limited to Health and Safety, Safeguarding legislation, emergency operating procedures, COSHH regulations and risk assessments.

· Reception duties (including cash handling, reconciliation, bookings and telephone).

· Lifeguarding duties

· Maintaining concentrated observation of pool users in order to anticipate problems and quickly identify an emergency so it can be dealt with

· Attend all aspects of training and deliver staff training in order to support the staff and works of the Centre.

· Maintain and acquire all qualifications that are relevant to the role.

Ampleforth Abbey is set in the Howardian Hills with a beautiful view from most of our offices. We are a charitable organisation and currently embarking on an exciting project to renovate our Visitor Centre, Shop & Tearoom. Our orchard is one of the largest commercial orchards in the North of England. The Abbey Church continues to be open for visitors and our retreat centre welcomes guests from all over the world.
