Head Chef

Salary: £29,500 - £32,000 (negotiable on experience)

Full Time: Permanent – 40 Hours a week, no split shifts, Christmas Shutdown.

Working pattern: - 8 hour shifts with the earliest start time 7:00am and latest finish 8:30pm on a normal day. (5 days over 7)

We are looking for a Head Chef who will embrace the opportunity to work in a charitable organisation going through an exciting period of change as we prepare for the opening of our new Visitor Centre and Tearoom in March 2024.

We work in a calm environment and are looking for someone who can manage a team of 3 chefs to support building a great reputation for our tea room and retreat centre. This is the opportunity to be part of something from the beginning. Your team will also be preparing meals for our monastic community & employees.

Main duties:

· Overall responsibility for daily operations in the kitchen across the monastery and tea room.

· Liaise with purchasing companies regarding ordering stock and ingredients.

· Adhere to Health & Safety policies and regulations.

· Build great relationships with Front of House teams to demonstrate a shared passion for excellent guest experience.

· Develop the teams knowledge and experience involving them with the development of new meus and dishes.

· Demonstrate a passion for hospitality & great food with previous experience of working as a Head Chef.

Ampleforth Abbey is set in the Howardian Hills with a beautiful view from most of our offices. We are a charitable organisation and currently embarking on an exciting project to renovate our Visitor Centre, Shop & Tearoom. Our orchard is one of the largest commercial orchards in the North of England. The Abbey Church continues to be open for visitors and our retreat centre welcomes guests from all over the world.
