Guest Operations Manager **Immediate Start**

Salary: £35,000 - £39,000 per annum dependent upon experience

Shifts to include 1 in 3 weekends off. 40 Hours per week.

Enhanced benefits are Pension is matched up to 8% with Holiday allowance of 33 Days per year inclusive of Bank Holidays.

We are a charitable organisation going through an exciting period of change as we prepare for the opening of our new Visitor Centre and Tearoom in March 2024.

Working as part of the wider Operations team, the Guest Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of Ampleforth Abbey Catering, Housekeeping, and Volunteer teams. The successful candidate will be a true team player, able to demonstrate excellent leadership and project management skills alongside an authentic commitment to the ethos and values of the Abbey.

Key Responsibilities

· Coordinate all venue driven event activities from initial client contact and brief discussions through to delivery.

Act as the main point of contact for external event suppliers and contractors.

· Ensure all health and safety compliance requirements and documentation are fulfilled across the visitor experience.

· Liaise with the Marketing team to ensure all visitor information is up to date and relevant.

· Act upon visitor feedback to improve the overall guest experience.

· Manage our volunteer programme ensuring that volunteers are placed in appropriate role and have received the relevant training.

· Work alongside the monastic community to ensure the Benedictine ethos is embedded in our guest experience.

· Oversee the Catering and Housekeeping department to provide best of class facilities and service;

· Work alongside the Director of Commercial and Operations to ensure appropriate staffing levels including all recruitment and training needs.

· Develop and implement a programme of tours around the Estate.

What we’re looking for:

· Minimum of 5-year supervisory experience would be ideal. We will also support with a full training plan.

· Natural hospitality charm and the ability to build great rapport with guests creating a team that want to be their best.

· You will have high standards & genuinely want to make guests smile with great attention to detail.

· Own transport required – located Ampleforth

Ampleforth Abbey is set in the Howardian Hills with a beautiful view from most of our offices. We are a charitable organisation and currently embarking on an exciting project to renovate our Visitor Centre, Shop & Tearoom. The Abbey Church continues to be open for our visitors and our orchard is one of the largest commercial orchards in the North of England. The Abbey Church continues to be open for visitors and our retreat centre welcomes guests from all over the world.
