General Estates Worker **Immediate Start**

40 Hours a week - Weekdays only with occasional weekends for special events.

Salary: £24,200 per annum

Enhanced benefits are Pension is matched up to 8% with Holiday allowance of 33 Days per year inclusive of Bank Holidays.  Free parking and Lunch provided each day.

We are a charitable organisation going through an exciting period of change as we prepare for the opening of our new Visitor Centre and Tearoom in March 2024.

Working as part of the Grounds and Estates team, this role will have responsibility for general maintenance across the Ampleforth Abbey Estate. Any trade background would be advantageous a building and maintenance would be ideal due to the nature of the work and someone who demonstrates a due regard for health & safety. The successful candidate will be a true team player, able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills alongside an authentic commitment to the ethos and values of the Abbey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operation and basic maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintenance of the grounds throughout the estate.
  • Undertake general maintenance of site premises, fixtures and fittings.
  • Working independently off a job list.
  • The scope of work relates to various types of seasonal work including road sweeping as well as snow clearing and gritting of the footpaths and roads.
  • Supporting team members working on specific estate projects.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience would be ideal. We will also support with a full training plan.
  • You will have high standards and a “can do” attitude we are a small team so flexibility is vital.
  • Own transport required – located Ampleforth

We are a charitable organisation and currently embarking on an exciting project to renovate our Visitor Centre, Shop & Tearoom.
