Confirmations take place at Ampleforth every year in the Summer term.  Students from Year 10 and upwards are invited to participate in the Confirmation programme.

This is run in House-based groups.  The House Chaplain calls students to consider Confirmation and invites them to enroll in a group in the house.  The catechesis begins in the second half of Michaelmas term and runs until the ceremonies themselves shortly after the Easter holiday.  A senior student in each house does much of the catechesis, guided and taught by the central chaplaincy and overseen by the House Chaplain.  The catechesis includes prayer, conversation, meditation and a retreat.  On the Friday night before the ceremonies there is a vigil for prayer.  The Confirmation ceremonies take place in the presence of the monastic community, college and family.
