Stay With Us

A Benedictine monastery is a centre for spirituality, education, pastoral work and evangelisation and that continues to be our mission today.

We receive guests in the spirit of St Benedict who wrote in his rule for monks: "Let all guests be received like Christ, who will say 'I came as a guest and you received me.'"

Seeking God through a life of prayer is at the heart of monastic life and our guests are welcome to share in this during their stay.  Our aim is to provide opportunities for quiet listening, reflection and learning in the peaceful environment of a 21st century monastery.

Many of our visitors come to join one of the organised retreats or quiet days that you will find described in our What's On section. Others come to stay on an individual basis, perhaps looking for quiet and rhythm in an increasingly busy, noisy and confusing world.

Whatever your reason for staying with us, you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.

We hope you enjoy learning more about what we offer here at Ampleforth.  If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01439 766000 or email hospitality@ampleforth.org.uk.
