Nine of our cadets were delighted to travel to RAF Leeming to join the No 11 Air Experience Flight.

Joe says: "Myself and eight other cadets from the RAF section of the CCF got another opportunity to join No. 11 Air Experience Flight at RAF Leeming for a flying experience. The group of cadets ranged from having little prior flying experience to more senior cadets having taken control multiple times before. There was plenty to learn for all throughout the day from the basics of flight and emergency procedures to the introduction of aerobatics and more complex maneuvers, all of which we were able to conduct by ourselves, having first been taught by the pilot. In addition, the day allowed a first hand experience of life within the RAF and also gave the chance for us to ask trained RAF pilots more in depth questions about the road to becoming a pilot and the paths they had taken. Overall the day was very insightful and there was a lot of fun to be had by all!"

The Combined Cadet Force at Ampleforth provides students with the opportunity to develop their self-discipline and sense of responsibility.
