We are aware there have been a number of “phishing” emails sent to parents and guardians of Ampleforth College offering an “early bird” discount and asking for fees to be paid into fraudulent bank accounts.
Please note this is a scam. Ampleforth College’s bank details have not changed, and we have no intention to do so.
As you may be aware, there have been a number of “phishing” emails received by parents recently offering an “early bird” discount and asking for fees to be paid into a fraudulent account. We are very sorry for the worry and inconvenience this may have caused you. This has been reported to the relevant authorities. Unfortunately, this is becoming an increasingly common scam targeting many independent schools and we would ask parents to remain vigilant.
The fraudulent emails which we have been made aware of on each occasion have all come from email@example.com (with an extra “s”) rather than from the genuine firstname.lastname@example.org
We would like to reiterate that, if you receive any email appearing to come from Ampleforth but which raises concerns, please check with our Finance Department before making any payment.
Please note our bank details have not changed and we are happy to confirm our bank details before you make any transfer of funds. This can be done by ringing a known contact at Ampleforth College and asking to be transferred to the Finance Department.
