Year 13 student Ellie has been busy setting up her own small business after spending time sewing masks for the NHS.

“I decided to start a very small clothing business, initially to pass the time. I got this idea when we were making masks for the NHS using an old gingham tablecloth as the main material. As there was so much left over it got me thinking, what can I do with all of this? I have always loved clothes, and remembering how many clothes I had which I never wore, I decided to do some experimenting. I started an Instagram page called theginghamshop to see if anyone was actually going to be interested and whether it was worth buying job lots of clothes and more colours of gingham material. I had a number of people who were interested and now have had a number of sales. I am now thinking of giving a percentage of the money I am making to the NHS as a contribution to their amazing services.”

Well done to Ellie and we wish her all the best for the future.
