As we start the new academic year, we are delighted to welcome our new Head, Robin Dyer to the Ampleforth valley.  Robin joins us from Wellington College, where he was Second Master and Operational Head.

More than 350 parents joined together to greet Robin and his wife Penny in the valley last night, as the boarders returned for the start of term.  Robin outlined his commitment to Ampleforth and spoke about how excited he was to be taking on this new role.  He says: “Ampleforth College is a world class school with incredible students, a devoted teaching staff and outstanding facilities.  This is an opportunity I approach with enormous excitement.  On its best day, Ampleforth leads the way in education in this country, and I want those best days to be the norm.”

Robin was highly recognised for his team leadership at Wellington, working alongside Sir Anthony Seldon for much of this time.  His responsibilities included the direction of the senior leadership team, implementation of school strategy including co-education, raising of academic standards, student and staff well-being, safeguarding and school discipline.

Robin is a University of Durham graduate and a former Warwickshire Cricketer and we are confident that his appointment demonstrates the opportunity that Ampleforth sees in continuing the investment that has already been made in the academic curriculum, governance, safeguarding and staff-training at the school.
