Ampleforth College is known throughout the world.  Generations of families have sent their children to us, wanting their sons and daughters to have the very best Catholic education available, one where students are assured of high academic standards, outstanding pastoral care, a huge range of extra-curricular opportunities and an upbringing focused on Benedictine values.

Most pupils at the school are full boarders, with a small number being day boarders.  Most of our pupils are British.  We also have overseas boarders, mostly from Europe, with other boarders joining us from Africa, Asia and America.  While more than 70% of our pupils are Catholic, we welcome families from other faiths who wish their children to experience Ampleforth’s unique ethos.  In our experience, children who come from Christian families are most likely to benefit from an Ampleforth education.

We are delighted that you are interested in finding out more about an Ampleforth education for your own family.  Our key message in the Admissions Office is ‘Come and see’ (John 1:39).  We warmly invite you to visit the College to see for yourself what makes the school so special.

On the following pages you will be able to find answers to some of the most common questions that prospective families have.  Every child is different, however, and Ampleforth College prides itself on recognising each child as an individual, so we understand that you and your family have particular needs and questions.  We are here to help you, so please do ring us for more information.
