At Ampleforth our tradition emphasises the importance of achieving the right balance between prayer, study and recreation.  We provide extensive opportunities for the broadest possible range of co-curricular activities.

Our first class facilities are backed up by expert staff who ensure that the students get the most out of them.  Our various activities are categorised in line with our Benedictine ethos – service, cognitive, personal, cultural, physical and spiritual.

We have a variety of Clubs and Societies that our students can join and have excellent provision for music tuition and all kinds of sporting activities.  The opportunities are endless – from debating societies to self defence classes, sub-aqua to chess, country pursuits to yoga.  We run a variety of service projects for our Year 12 students every Monday afternoon where our girls and boys help on the vast estate and in local charity shops and care homes.  We have a Land Rover Restoration group where our students get hands-on experience bringing an old car back to life.  We have a poetry society and an archery group, we provide dance classes and horse riding – every possible hobby is catered for.
