The Friendship Holiday was established in 2004 in conjunction with Oak Field School in Nottingham. Oak Field School is a special needs school for pupils with mental, physical and various other disabilities.
The pupils from Nottingham are sixth formers. Chronologically they are the same age as our own students, but have significant differences in their physical, mental and social needs.
30 Year 12 students are responsible for fundraising throughout the year in order to fund the holiday so that there is no cost to the Oak Field students or their staff. They are also responsible for planning and running the holiday itself, including all activities and trips. During the holiday our students act as full time carers for the Oak Field students, including helping them to wash, dress and eat.
