The following is a typical list of equipment needed - there will be variations according to expected terrain and time of year:

  • Walking Boots and walking socks
  • Rucksack*
  • Warm Sleeping bag* and cotton liner*
  • Karrimat*
  • Mug, Plate, Knife, fork and spoon*
  • Water bottle*
  • Waterproof Jacket & Trousers
  • Warm Clothing (not Jeans)
  • Spare warm jumper or fleece
  • Spare set of walking clothes
  • Balaclava*/ Wool Hat
  • Gloves or Mitts*
  • Map* & Compass*
  • Route card
  • Torch*
  • First Aid Kit*
  • Spare chocolate for emergency rations
  • Toiletries etc.
  • Shorts, floppy hat and sun cream if weather looks like being warm

Items marked * we can provide

There are charges to cover transport and food for expeditions. Typically these will be around £50 for a one-night weekend expedition, £75 for a two-night expedition in the Lake District or Pennines and approximately £240 for a three-night expedition to Scotland requiring two nights in a hostel at either end.
