When conditional offers are made at both 13+ and 16+, prospective parents are invited to confirm their intention of sending their son or daughter to Ampleforth College.

A deposit, currently £1000 is requested at this stage. This is a returnable deposit, which will be credited to the bill at the end of the final term. For non-European domiciled applicants the Confirmation fee is £3,500. Acceptance of the confirmation fee constitutes a firm promise of a place, subject to the entry requirements outlined above being achieved.

The confirmation fee will not be returned if parents subsequently chose not to enter their son or daughter for Ampleforth College. It will be returned if, for any reason, academic or otherwise, the Headmaster decides he will not admit the student. Students placed on the waiting list will not be required to pay the confirmation fee until the firm offer of a place becomes available. Once an entrant is confirmed, a term's notice is required for withdrawal.

A closing date for acceptance of a conditional offer will be given to parents at the time. However, parents are strongly advised that the late acceptance of an offer may affect their choice of House. Confirmations after the closing date cannot be guaranteed a place at the College.

The admission of any boy or girl is conditional on written acceptance of the Parent School contract, which is printed on the reverse of the Confirmation Form and in the Parents Handbook. The School rules are printed in the termly Blue Book. Copies of each document may be obt attained from the Admissions Department. Admission to Ampleforth is usually at 13+ (Year 9) or into the Sixth Form at 16+ (Year 12). Admission into other years is also possible, subject to availability a place being available.
