Ampleforth Abbey is situated in North Yorkshire and is home to the largest community of Benedictine monks in the UK. The monastic Community has for many years welcomed visitors to the Abbey, providing retreats and other hospitality which enable people from all walks of life to experience the peace and tranquillity that is so often lacking in our lives today. The Community are about to launch an exciting project which will be a significant expansion of its hospitality and retreat activity through the Ampleforth Retreat Centre. This new role provides an exciting opportunity to work with the Community in defining and shaping this welcome.
Working as part of the wider Hospitality team, the Marketing, Communications and Outreach Officer will be responsible for the effective marketing of the Ampleforth Abbey Retreat Centre, making a key contribution to ensuring the success of this major expansion initiative in growing the monastic apostolate of hospitality at Ampleforth. The Marketing, Communications and Outreach Officer will ensure that news of the establishment of the Retreat Centre is promulgated nationally and internationally, identifying new markets for retreat guests, creating and consolidating relationships with new and existing audiences and shaping the Centre’s provision to meet the needs of its guests, old and new. The successful candidate will be a true team player, have experience of marketing new initiatives, be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills alongside an authentic commitment to the ethos and values of the Abbey and a genuine understanding of the value and benefits of its retreat activity. Our new Marketing, Communications and Outreach Officer will love working at Ampleforth and will demonstrate their “buy in” with both energy and empathy on a daily basis.
The role will close on Monday 19th April at 5pm.
Salary is £30,000 - £33,000, dependent on skills and experience.
