The thoughts of the Ampleforth community are with you all as we face unprecedented life changes during the Coronavirus pandemic. Please be assured of our regular prayers for you all.
The Community members themselves remain in good spirits and well so far. Even for us, as a Community of monks whose stability is in the monastery, we are finding a new way to live, work and pray together now that our external ministries are suspended. We are much encouraged by those who are sharing Mass and monastic prayer with us via live streaming and wanted to share with you some resources that we hope you find helpful at this unsettling time. Please see our news feed for reflections and Homilies from the Community.
A message from Fr Gabriel Everitt OSB, Prior Administrator
From Wednesday 1st April, we would like to offer those at home a chance to gather every morning (except Sunday) at 10.30am for a short time of prayer led by a monk, with the words available online to allow those listening to join in. This will be followed by a brief reflection from the monk. Please see our Service Times page for a link to our audio live stream. Most days, an audio recording of the most recent Home Prayers can be found at the bottom of this page.
We in the monastic community particularly regret not being able to welcome people to stay here on retreat. We would like to offer to anyone who is interested, a series of simple short “Home Retreats”. We hope they will be of some value to you and are our way of continuing to welcome you here to Ampleforth, wherever you may find yourself. Click here to join.
