We are a community of Benedictine monks, living under the Rule of St Benedict and an Abbot, on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

We have, at present, 94 monks. These include 1 bishop, 87 solemnly professed monks (81 of whom are ordained priests), 5 junior monks and 1 novice.

We are a praying community, witnessing to the Christian faith and our baptism. We also serve the wider church. We run two schools, several parishes, a house of studies in Oxford, a monastic mission in Zimbabwe, a small publishing company, an energy company (water), a bookshop, an orchard, and a thriving hospitality and pastoral department for adult and school-age guests.

We have been a community for centuries, but only settled here inYorkshire (from France) in 1802. The year 2002 is our bicentenary - Deo Gratias!
