“Great Uncle Eleutherius’ Interactive Guide to the Truth”

Year 6 - covers the topics of Revelation, and covenant history.

Year 7 - covers the need for Redemption, and Jesus of the Gospels.

Year 8 - covers the nature of Faith, and the three sacraments of initiation: baptism, confirmation and eucharist.

The scheme of work shows :-

  • differentiated learning objectives,
  • links to Scripture (for building liturgies),
  • links to the Catechism and Bishops’ directory.
  • This is a story-based course in Catholic religious instruction for children aged 10-13 (Nat Curr years 6-8).

    In the story, two children, Lucy and Christian, spend the summer holidays with their Great Uncle Eleutherius in the lighthouse he looks after. Their father remains at home in London with mother, who is very ill

    It turns out that Eleutherius has invented a new kind of virtual reality computer. In this computer program the children can enter the world of the Bible, with its themes and personalities.

    Soon there will the whole text, in chapters, will be available here in a word-processor version, for easy printing and copying. The same text will be available for downloading as self-executing multimedia files. Although Ampleforth Abbey Trustees hold the copyright for these texts, they may be freely copied and used for home use, and by catechetical groups. Approved schemes of work, and worksheets will soon be available for schools for a fee.

    Two chapters from the second volume (Nat. Curr. year 7) are available here as a sample. They introduce Jesus as miracle worker and teacher.
