Ampleforth’s Bicentenary Ball – 5th July 2002

This is a special opportunity for all of Ampleforth’s friends to celebrate 200 years of Ampleforth together.

The setting will be a stylish marquee in the grounds of Ampleforth Abbey and College facing the floodlit Abbey. The Ball will begin with a champagne reception followed by a three-course meal. There will be a fireworks display after dark with two live bands playing into the early hours of the morning.

We are hoping to begin the evening with Mass in the Abbey for those who wish to attend. It will end in time for Matins (for those guests with enough stamina!)

Tickets are priced at £125 per person. If you would like to come but feel that you would be unable to make up a table, and might be alone - simply offer your name to the number below and best efforts will be made to match you up to people you know! For further details, please contact Claire Evans on 01439 766777.

In conjunction with the Bicentenary Ball, Ampleforth is holding an Internet Auction in aid of the Ampleforth Bicentenary Appeal and Ampleforth Society Bursaries. You will be able to browse through the lots on offer and bid on line. The bidding will only last a few weeks and closes at midnight on 5th July 2002, the night of the Ball.  We are on the look out for potential lots, so if you think you have something to donate to this auction, please contact the Development Office on 01439 766777.

Invitations to the ball have been sent.  Applications will be treated on a first come first served basis.

Before the Ball itself, an activity morning and afternoon has been arranged to include a round of golf at Strensall and many laps karting at York Karting Centre. A barbecue will be available for lunch and a regular bus service will run between York Golf Club and the Karting Centre to enable everyone to have a relaxed and enjoyable day.
