At a time when we are all praying for fair elections in Zimbabwe, the Abbot has announced his intention to strengthen the Abbey's foundation there at Monte Cassino Mission. Fr Richard ffield, currently Housemaster of St Thomas' House will be going to strengthen the Community.
Abbot Timothy said: 'I am delighted to announce the appointment of Fr Richard to join the brethren at the Monastery of Christ the Word. I am sure it will give them and their friends encouragement in these difficult days. Fr Richard has done a wonderful job in the school and is now looking forward eagerly to his new challenge.' He will leave his current post in July and after some further training go to Zimbabwe in 2003.'

“There is a vital need for fit young people to care for the sick and infirm when they travel to Lourdes. It is demanding though ultimately highly rewarding work for these helpers. But it costs £500 to make the trip and there is a constant need for funding to help those who wish to offer their services for this worthy task.”
More details, latest news and an invitation to help with funds or by staging fund raising events can be found on the site - www.armf.org.uk
The blessing of the new Abbot will take place at a special ceremony presided over by Bishop John Crowley of Middlesbrough, on a date to be arranged.
