CHARLIE SPARROW (EW07) and LAURA WILLIS (A07) are in Tanzania. Charlie writesL "Laura Willis and I have just finished a month of teaching in a secondary school primarily established for oprhans, just outside Dar Es Salaam, called NEw Horrizon HIgh School. It was a fantastci four weeks and during that time we visited houses of both students and teachers and were welcomed into the homes with the greatest hospitality-something that Tanzanians seem to be very good at!!!. The director of the school, who owns an engineering company and puts any profit from that work into improving the opportunities for orphans in Tanzania, has begun work on building a new school in a better location and with better facilities but as youcan appreciate funds are the main setback in such a poor area! He has spoken at great length with us about the problems caused by teh huge number of orphans on the street of Tanzania, quoting the result of a survey that suggests that there will over 4.5 million orphans in Tanzania by 2010."
