R Michael Sharp

Roger Michael Sharp born 2 November 1944 Kenilworth; Cotton College; St John's House September 1958-July 1962; articled clerk for Chartered Accountancy 1962-67 approx [Leach, Pierce and Evans in Coventry]; working as a Chartered Accountant in industry approx 1967-2000 - Financial Director of The Rugby Group; charity work in hospice movement 2000-2006; married Vivien Hutton 1969 (3 sons); died 30 November 2006.

Obituary

Michael Sharp was in St John's House from September 1958 to July 1962 with Fr Benet Perceval as his Housemaster. After Ampleforth he was an articled clerk for chartered accountancy with a Coventry firm, Leach, Pierce and Evans], between about 1962 and 1967. After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Michael worked as an accountant in industry until his retirement in 2000. He was Financial Director of the Rugby Group, which includes such companies as Rugby Cement. After he retired in 2000, he worked from 2000 to 2006 helping hospices.

Michael married Vivien Hutton in 1969,  and they had three sons. Michael was a very keen sailer, sailing at different times a Laiser, a Mirrow, a Salcombe Yawl and a Hawk 20 - mostly at Salcombe in Devon. For Michael his Catholic faith was always important, and he would never miss a Sunday Mass. He died on 30 November 2006.
