Patrick Ryan was the son of Vincent Ryan of Knaresborough in West Yorkshire. Born in 1933, he was in the Junior House from 1945 to 1947 and in St Dunstan’s House from 1947 to 1951. From 1951 to 1953 he did national service with the West Yorkshire Regiment, serving in Egypt and in Malaya. He studied to be a solicitor, and in 1972 founded PT Ryan, Solicitors of Kings Lynn. He married Diane Brittorous in 1963.
