8 December 2007 in Wimbledon

Event: Public Schools Old Boys Cross Country Match

The OACC did very well in a very muddy and wet alumni Cross Country Run in Wimbledon on Saturday 8 December 2007. We came 3rd overall - up from last year when we came 5th and only 2 points astray from Sedbergh!   The competition was very stiff including some international runners and one notable Chris Chataway who came 62nd!   I think we have Sedbergh in our sights for 19 January [2008], with a bit more training and some new recruits. 1 July 2007  British 10k Race in London

ROBERT RIGBY (T79) and ANTHONY ARTHUR (J97) competed in the 7th Annual British 10K race on 1 July 2007, which is fast becoming THE 10K race in the UK.  Over 20,000 runners, many running for local charities, compete and pound the streets of Central London, taking in the sights of St James, Piccadilly Circus, The Embankment, Houses of Parliament and Whitehall.  Robert and Anthony came within three places of each other with Robert finishing in 56th and Anthony 59th.  Both flew the flag for Ampleforth with  Robert wearing the new OAXC running slip and Anthony still managing to fit into his 2nd VIII shirt. 14 January 2006 at Ampleforth

The Old Amplefordian Cross Country Match was held at Ampleforth on 14 January 2006. The School won the match by 61 points to 26 points.

Henry Guiver (H - Ampleforth) came first in 28 minutes 51 seconds. Second was ROBERT RIGBY (T79) [29.04]. Then, after Charles Sparrow (EW), Alex Brazier (O), Gerald Williams (EW), Michael Vale (D) and James Moroney (O), the 8th and 2nd OA was OLLIE BRODRICK-WARD (A97) [30.35] and 9th was CRISPIN DAVY (W91) [30.38]. Then Tom MacHale (W) was 10th - then other OAs were [11th] BEN GUEST (W91) [30.44]; [14th] ANTHONY ARTHUR (J97) [31.45]; [17th] RORY HENDERSON (O01) [32,45]; ADRIAN MYERS (A90) [32.42]; [23rd] CHRIS COPPING (J76) [36.03]; [25th] JUSTIN KERR-SMILEY (W83) [37.08]; [27th] OLIVER HEATH (E90) [40.02]; [29th] PETE THOMAS (B86) [41.02]; [30th] PAUL MOORE (J77) [42.59].

The first six finishers in each team count towards the match, scoring the number of points coiniciding with their place in the race. Thus the School gained 26 points [1 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 = 26] and the Old Amplefordians gained 61 points [2 + 8 + 9 + 11 + 14 + 17 = 61].

A Dinner was held in the evening.
