Hand-carved, Kenyan crucifix in red wood
These crucifixes are hand-carved by a member of the Kamba tribe in Kenya. He supports his family of nine children through the sale of these items. The Kamba tribe are famous throughout East Africa for their skills in this craft. The wood for the figure is a very hard local wood called mutandi, which takes a fine, satin finish and holds good detail. The style is at once traditional and ethnic and yet strikingly modern. There are two sizes: 30cm (for £45.00 inc. VAT @ 15%), and 52cm (for £75 inc. VAT @ 15%.). Only the 52cm size is currently available - more stock expected in the New Year.
